The need for Integrated Project Delivery is here, fueled by advancing developments in BIM and increasing demands for true budget and cost accountability. IPD changes the contractual and delivery process, but moreover strongly impacts the design phases, deliverables roles and responsibilities in order to foster a new context for teamwork.
This crash course in IPD will begins with an introduction by Ted Sive, who will be presenting a current whitepaper on IPD to the Society for Marketing Professional Services defining the process and forecasting the implications for marketing and strategic process—especially business development—for A/E/C firms.
This session will conclude with a panel discussion from one of the Northwest’s first IPD teams (owner, architect, and contractor) a team currently building the Seattle Children’s Bellevue Clinic. Panelists will discuss their experiences working on the design phase on this project which is under construction.

The Lean Construction Institute (LCI), a non-profit research organization, was founded in August 1997. LCI's purpose is to develop and disseminate new knowledge regarding the management of work in design, engineering and construction for capital facilities. To that end, the Cascadia chapter is a localized chapter serving the BC, WA, OR region. LCI has developed the Lean Project Delivery System© (LPDS), and the Last Planner® System of production control. Lean Construction is a production management-based approach to project delivery - a new way to design and build capital facilities. Lean production management has caused a revolution in manufacturing design, supply and assembly. Applied to construction, Lean changes the way work is done throughout the delivery process. Lean Construction extends from the objectives of a lean production system - maximize value and minimize waste - to specific techniques and applies them in a new project delivery process extending from project definition through design, supply and assembly.
